Mrs. Adler introduces them without naming the competition. Amara works the morning anyway, but Jolene is sitting on Mrs. Adler's fitting stool and her garment bag is the brand Amara owns. Walking home she opens the thread and finds Camille has pinned a screenshot: the Tribeca client's assistant has booked Jolene for Wednesday. Two Black women through the same apartment in one week. Amara sits in the F at Bergen and cries one stop with the bag on her lap, then texts Camille 'i'm fine' in the voice she uses for her mother.
