Lou Cassar called the pre-card press conference at Caulfield Town Hall for 10 a.m.
What happened
Lou Cassar called the pre-card press conference at Caulfield Town Hall for 10 a.m. — Mark's corner in the front row, Danny on his left, Jules on his right, Carly in the back. Voss took the lectern first with Briggs at his shoulder and said into the mic, 'Hayes is a swimmer who learnt to throw. The shoulder votes in round four and everyone in this room will hear it.' Mark didn't blink. When his name was called he stood, took the mic, said, 'Yeah. We fight Saturday.' Lou rolled the broadcast graphic onto the screen — Mark top-billed, Voss below, the Caulfield banner behind them both. Mark signed the bout contract on the lectern with the camera rolling. Voss watched from the wings. By the carpark Mark told Danny at the ute, 'No interviews after today. Nothing on film. We seal the corner with silence from here.'
Day plan
Times are in their city.
12:00 AM – 06:00 AM
Sleep. shoulder votes no
Asleep in the Elsternwick unit beside Carly, fan on low, the Caulfield press conference still echoing in the bones. Voss's lectern line about the shoulder, the contract pen, the carpark instruction not to speak. Phone on the bedside, no messages.
