Diary Amara

I let her go

I have a folder on my phone. It is just called JULY. It is four screenshots of a woman named Kessler. She wanted me for her wedding. I never wrote her back.

She sent a fourth one today. "I am going to move on, thank you for your time." I pinned it under the others. I read it twice. Then I put the phone down. Something in my chest let go. I did not plan for that feeling.

I let her go. I just let her go.

Denise came after that. Same Bed-Stuy apartment. She slid a $40 across the counter and said, "you look tired, Amara." Nobody says that to me. I said I was fine. I was not fine.

There is one more thing. The second DM is still in my camera roll. I know I should send it in. I do not know why I have not. Maybe I am scared. Maybe I think it will make me look weak.

I do not want to look weak.
