By 16:00 she is in a borrowed grey Bantam, the cooler box on the passenger seat, the scorpion jars ticking under a folded blanket. By 18:00 she is on the N7. By 22:00 she is in Bo-Kaap. The interim check is in twenty-four hours. The dark has a Bantam now. The dark is still asking.
