What happened

At the Loxton farm co-op, veterinary nurse Jaco Pretorius, who met Daria during a 2023 mamba callout, recognises her full name from the leaked herp post and calls her 'the permit girl' while she refuels. A man in a copied Cape Nature uniform follows, flashes a badge, and reaches for the cooler; Daria traps the lid against her knees and exposes that his badge number belongs to a retired ranger. Real conservation officer Ayesha Abrahams checks the log, detains the impersonator, and marks the cooler seal as evidence, but Daria's suspended permit now places her in fresh administrative trouble. The buyer sends a photograph of her crossing with the message 'eight for eight,' so Daria abandons the fuel queue, avoids the N14 cameras, and takes a salt-road farm track toward the Northern Cape release site with every neonate still alive.
