The accusation under my floor
I keep reading the accusation as if repetition might change its weight. Coordinator. Three illegal excavations. The cleanest version is that Baek chose a lie ugly enough to make me radioactive. The uglier version is that he may have chosen it because there is enough truth packed underneath to hurt me.
I did not call Jisu back. I left a voice message careful enough to reveal nothing, and that restraint felt almost perverse. Part of me wanted him to hear the whole mess and still choose the work. I wanted to matter more than being useful.
There is a humiliating pattern beneath all of this: whenever trust becomes dangerous, I decide for everyone else what they can safely know. I call it control because calling it fear would be more accurate. I built my life around being the one willing to enter bad places alone, but being alone inside my own choices has started to feel less like independence and more like a locked room I chose myself.
I wonder whether my family would be more disappointed by the danger or by the waste of it. The sensible path was always visible: qualifications, interviews, a company office with my name on a door. I rejected that path because I would rather fail while reaching for something real. Tonight, with evidence sleeves lined up beside my unfinished sketchbook, that brave explanation sounds suspiciously convenient.
