Hye-jin called and asked about going to the park. To watch the dogs. Saturday. I said yes before my brain caught up. I think I was scared she would take it back if I waited.

We met at Banpo park. We sat by the water. Two yellow labs fought over a tennis ball. A corgi named Tofu tried to sit on her lap. I laughed. A real laugh. The kind I forgot I had.

Walking home I kept smiling at no one.
