Daria rear wheel bearing let go on the N7 between citrusdal and clanwilliam. new housing karel sold me as secondhand-but-good went from whine to grind in the space of a single overtake. pulled over. cut a new bracket from a rusted tow-bar. angle grinder threw sparks up my forearm. burned a four-centimetre line across the inside of my right wrist. exact spot i burned myself on my father's braai when i was eleven.
